In collaboration with the National Lottery, the Pro Basketball League and Basketball Belgium are joining forces to organize the Men's and Women's Basketball Cup of Belgium with the "Lotto Basketball Cup."  In addition, Baloise is also renewing its partnership for this event. Both the men's and women's finals will be played at Forest National on Saturday, March 11 and Sunday, March 12.

The Belgian Cup is in its 70th edition this year. Last season, Hubo Limburg United was able to pull off the upset against reigning national champion FILOU Oostende, the very first trophy in the short history of the Limburg club. In women's basketball, it was Kangoeroes Basket Mechelen who hoisted the coveted trophy last year.

Last weekend, three quarterfinals of the Lotto Basketball Cup in the women's competition have already been completed. On one side of the bracket, Basket Namur Capitale easily took down Spirou Ladies Charleroi 94-41 in a Walloon duel. On the other side of the bracket, cup holder Kangoeroes Mechelen defeated House of Talents Kortrijk Spurs with a clear thirty point 85-55 win. Basket Willebroek, who plays in 1e Landelijke, had a 58-77 win over Rebond Ottignies, a 1^st Régional team. So in the one semifinal we get a regional duel between Kangoeroes Mechelen and Basket Willebroek. The quarterfinals between Mithra Castors Braine and Phantoms Boom will be played on Jan. 17. The winner will meet Basket Namur Capitale in the semifinals. The final of the Lotto Basketball Cup women will be played on Saturday, March 11 at Forest National.

On December 9, 11 and 13, the quarterfinals of the Lotto Basketball Cup Men will be played. RSW Liège Basket and Circus Brussels Basketball will compete against the winner of the duel between Stella Artois Leuven Bears and Telenet Giants Antwerp in the semifinals. FILOU Oostende already meets reigning cup winner HUBO Limburg United in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, one of them will face the winner of the matchup between Kangoeroes Basket Mechelen and Spirou Basket Charleroi. These games can be followed via live stream on the Lotto Basketball Cup YouTube channel.

The final of the Lotto Basketball Cup Men is scheduled for Sunday, March 12, at Forest National.
